8th International MG Meeting in Berlin

The Octagonal Berlin Event – 26 to 29 August 2004

At this the 8th International MG Meeting in Berlin the best MGs are expected. A full and varied programme is on offer from the MG Club of Berlin for our guests including a city tour ‘Korso’ with police motorcycle escort known in Germany as Weisse Maeuse (white mice) and a Tulip Rally/Treasure Hunt into the surroundings of Berlin followed by a gala evening.

For the Octagonal Berlin Event in August 2004, the MG Club of Berlin expects participation from all European countries of cars from 1932 to 2004. These international meetings are arranged by the MG Club of Berlin. A full programme ensures great success and increased participation.

His Excellency, the ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has again kindly agreed to sponsor this event.

For MG enthusiasts this meeting has become a tradition. Nobody wants to miss the motor cavalcade through the centre of the city and the Tulip Rally/Treasure Hunt through the surroundings of Berlin. The organisers of this meeting have surprises in store for all participants.

It will be fascinating for the inhabitants of Berlin when the unmistakable sound of English cars are heard on the event days. "Gentlemen start your engines".

The members of the Berlin MG Club look forward to the meeting in August 2004 and invite all who share their enthusiasm for the four wheeled Brits.

First meeting with coffee, tea and cakes for petrolhead discussions in the hotel

Evening
Official meeting of all participants in the hotel. Possibility for participating in a surprise coach tour (subject to availability of seats) or a relaxing evening in the hotel with other MG drivers

Fri 27 Aug

From 06.30 hrs
Distribution of participation documents and rally shields, essential for the Berlin Korso (cavalcade).

From 08.30 hrs
Meet at AVUS-Nordkurve for MG cavalcade escorted by Berlin Motorcycle police (Weisse Maeuse) for drive through centre of Berlin.

Around 12 noon
Cavalcade ends at Meilenwerk where a snack is included.

Subsequently
Possibility to go shopping/sightseeing with shuttle busses from Meilenwerk toKu-Damm or Potsdamer Platz with return to Meilenwerk.

Evening
Intended for petrolhead discussions in the hotel or at leisure for sightseeing etc.

Drivers’ briefing

Distribution of papers for the Tulip Rally/Treasure Hunt. A snack is included during the lunch break.

From 16.00 hrs
Return of the first cars

From 20.00 hrs
Gala evening with buffet, live music, dance and prize giving.

Sun 29 Aug

From 07.30 hrs
Meeting over brunch in the hotel. Farewell to those departing.

Cost

The cost of participating is Euro 122.00 per person
(Bank details provided but Ted Newman will coordinate for everyone)

Please Note
Participation is restricted to 80 cars and applications are only processed once payment has been received.

Included in the cost:
On Thursday: Greeting with coffee or tea and cake, surprise outing (subject to seats being available). On Friday: Cavalcade through the city centre with police escort and light lunch. On Saturday: Tulip Rally/Treasure Hunt with light lunch, evening buffet with live music. On Sunday: Brunch. Also included in the cost are the hire of facilities, liability insurance, trophies, participation and tour documents, rally shield, information and advertising material plus some ‘surprises’.

 Ted Newman’s cut-off date for registration is 11 June 2004

Hotel

So that there are not nasty surprises, early booking is recommended.
An allotment of rooms is available at the nH-Hotel Kleinmachnow so that all participants can be in the same hotel but there are limited garage parking facilities. The special rates negotiated are:
Double with shower/WC - Euro 78.00 per person incl breakfast
Single with shower/WC - Euro 65.00 per person incl breakfast

Reservations

 Ted Newman will make firm reservations for everyone but please note that his final cut-off date for the hotel is 11 June 2004, the same as for registration.
