After picking up our 'pic-nics' from the hotel we start a very easy and pleasant drive taking in a visit to one of the regions Champagne Houses Launois Père & Fils to see 'how it is done' and to taste and perhaps buy their wares.
After the 'educational' we drive north to the Faux de Verzy on a plateau south east of Reims where we can stretch our legs and have our lunch. We then continue via Verzenay and the windmill we continue through the Montagne de Reims via St Lie and then drop down to Chatillon sur Marne we then follow the river to Chateau Thierry the scene of some ferocious battles during the First World War.
We then head back towards Epernay along the other side of the Marne visiting Dormans and Hautvillers before returning to Vertus and the hotel for the last night.
